Having fun on the stream is what it's all about. But it's even more fun when we're doing it for a good cause. I've supported two charities previously, Special Effect & War Child UK, and I hope to continue to support many more in the future. If you work for a charity and would like to work with me, please get in touch.
In December 2019, we completed our first charity live stream supporting Special Effect, a charity dedicated to inclusivity. That's why they're transforming the lives of physically disabled people right across the world through the innovative use of technology. At the heart of their work is their mission to maximise fun and quality of life by helping people control video games to the best of their abilities. By using technology ranging from modified controllers to eye-tracking sensors, they're finding a way for people to play to the very best of their abilities. They're not just doing it for fun. By levelling the playing field, Special Effect are bringing families and friends together and having a profoundly positive impact on quality of life, confidence and rehabilitation.
During the 12 hour stream, we flew across Europe in a variety of different aircraft and airlines, raising just under £300 for this fantastic cause.
Following on from the success of the 12 hour charity stream in 2019, we set out to smash our previous record with a 16 hours charity stream in July of 2020, this time in support of War Child UK as part of their Racing Champions fundraiser. War Child are a charity working to ensure a safe future for every child affected by war. They aim to reach children as quickly as possible when conflict breaks out and stay long after the cameras have gone to support them through their recovery. War Child will never give up on children affected by conflict.
We ended up running a little behind schedule, and after nearly 17 and a half hours, we'd finished the longest stream I'd ever completed, raising well over £1200, a fantastic effort from our awesome community!
